Why it is important to get a precise truck?

•    Smooth Slide- You can enjoy smoother slides without facing any nuances due to bearings and axle with a right kind of truck.

•    Prevent Worn Wheels- Having a precise truck will eliminate any kind of collision between the axle and wheel, which will keep them free from being damaged.

•    Extra Grip- Perfect trucks of a longboard will keep the wheel moving & tilting side to side, which will result in maximum surface contact with ground.

•    Stability and Speed- Precise trucks have less slop between hanger and baseplate that offers more stability while zooming down the streets with great speed.

Today most companies are introducing different features of trucks for enhancing longboarding experience and performance.

Some of the truck features are:
           Support pins

           Ball pivots

           Accurate dimensions

           Precise tolerances

Every longboarder should know that there are three most critical parts of a truck, which affects the longboard’s performance:

1. Baseplate: This is a part of the truck, which is mounted to the board and helps in determining angle of the kingpin. Trucks with 50o baseplate angle is good for all types of riding, whereas trucks having 40o baseplate angle is considered great in enjoying freeride or downhill set-ups. Higher angled baseplates of a truck give more freedom and flexibility to turn, which makes the longboard ideal for enjoying carving style. On the other hand lower angled baseplates of a truck is good for sliding, as the truck perfectly locks up as stiff and straight during your slide.

2. Bushings: These are small urethane tubes, which sits on the kingpin around the hanger and is selected by considering the durometer (hardness of the bushing) and shape.

Durometer:
       •    Softer the bushings with 75a -82a

       •    Harder bushings with 82a and up

Shape:
       •    Cone shape

       •    Barrel Shape

       •    Stepped Cone shape

       •    Double stepped barrel bushings

       •    Stepped barrel bushings

3. Hanger/Axles: Trucks having burlier hangers or axles are considered good in absorbing all kinds of vibrations in the road while enjoying longboarding. Most common axle size for trucks is 180mm or 10in, whereas stable trucks have 215mm.
